For the Cake

1 box white cake mix

1 cup orange juice

½ cup vegetable oil

3 large eggs

1 tablespoon orange zest (optional but boosts flavor)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon orange extract (optional but highly recommended)

A few drops of orange food coloring (optional for the creamsicle look)

For the Orange Cream Filling (optional but delicious)

1 cup heavy whipping cream

¼ cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon orange extract

1 teaspoon orange zest

For the Creamsicle Frosting

8 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1–2 teaspoons orange extract

Zest of 1 orange

1. Make the Cake

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Grease and flour two 8-inch or 9-inch round cake pans.

3. In a mixing bowl, combine:

cake mix

orange juice

vegetable oil

eggs

vanilla extract

orange extract

orange zest

 

4. Mix until smooth (about 2 minutes).

5. Add a few drops of orange food coloring if you want a bright creamsicle color.

6. Pour batter evenly into pans.

7. Bake 23–28 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

8. Cool completely before frosting.

2. Make the Filling (optional)

1. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.

2. Add powdered sugar, orange extract, and zest.

3. Beat until thick and fluffy.

4. Chill until ready to use.

3. Make the Frosting

1. Beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth.

2. Add powdered sugar gradually.

3. Mix in vanilla, orange extract, and orange zest.

4. Whip until fluffy.

4. Assemble the Cake

1. Place first cake layer on a plate.

2. Spread a layer of the orange cream filling (or frosting).

3. Add the second cake layer.

4. Frost the entire cake with the creamsicle frosting.

5. Chill at least 30 minutes before slicing for clean cuts.
